Step-By-Step Guide to  City Water Connection

faucetFor more information view Guide to Connecting to Water and the Guide to Connecting to Sewer.

Step 1:
Download and print an application for service.
Applications may also be obtained from the Utilities Customer Service Office located in City Hall.

Step 2:
Fill out the application and return it to the Utilities Customer Service Office in the City Hall Complex located at 120 Malabar Road, S.E., Palm Bay, FL 32907.  Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Step 3:
A Refundable Deposit of $100 is required upon application for service.  For a nominal fee, a credit screening can be completed to determine if the deposit can be waived or reduced.  The Main Line Extension Fee, Water Capital Charge, and Meter Installation Charge are also due upon application; however, these charges may be financed. [Available Financing Options]

Step 4:
Once service is available and you have made application and paid or financed all applicable fees, crews will schedule to have a meter installed.  Installation of the service line from the City’s meter to the house requires a permit from the City’s Building Division.  It is recommended that you obtain the services of a licensed plumber to perform the installation.

Step 5:
Once the line is installed, the City’s Building Division should be notified by the customer to schedule an inspection for proper depth, size and connection.

Step 6:
A Building Inspector will perform a cross-connection inspection and turn on the water.

A cross-connection inspection is necessary to ensure that there is no interconnection between drinking water and non-potable sources of water.  Please note, it may be required that an authorized adult be present at this time, depending on the location of the well.

Step 7:
It is highly recommended that customers connecting to the City’s water supply should abandon their well.  However, some residents may wish to maintain their well for irrigation purposes.

Step 8:
If a resident wishes to abandon his or her well, the services of a Florida licensed water well contractor must be obtained.  The water well contractor must obtain a permit application from the Brevard County Health Department.  For more information, please contact the Brevard County Health Department’s Environmental Health Services Office at (321) 633-2100, option 2, or click here for more information.
