Enterprise GIS Division

A Geographic Information System (GIS) captures,  stores, analyzes, manages and presents data that is linked to location.  A map is a common product of GIS, but the strength of GIS is performing spatial data globeanalysis. Data is described in terms of geographic features, meaning points can represent schools or parks, lines can represent streets or canals, and polygons can represent parcels or water bodies. These features have attributes, which are data records. For example, the streets feature would show you where the roads go, but the streets data would show you the road name, the speed limits, or road jurisdiction.

The Enterprise GIS Division strives to provide the most up-to-date and most useful information for residents and out-of-town viewers.  The division offers maps in hard copy and electronically through the interactive map service provided below:

Available Data Layers:  Addresses, Aerial Imagery, Building Permits, Canals, Churches, City Departments, City Limits, Code Enforcement, Fire Hydrants, Local Streets, Major Roads, Sex Offenders, Water and Sewer Availability, and Zoning. Also available are emergency shelters and facilities and evacuation routes.  See the City's Emergency Preparedness web site for more information.
