what is a false alarm?

A false alarm is any security system activation caused by human error or equipment problems requiring a response by police or fire units where a thorough investigation reveals no evidence of a problem, emergency, or where no crime has been committed or attempted crime has occurred.

A faulty alarm system leads to false alarm activations! Yearly maintenance is the preventative measure all systems require in order to avoid runaway false alarms that may bring about monetary fines imposed.
